Our Mission & Outreach ministry seeks to share the love of God in Christ with others through support and involvement in local and foreign missions.
Our purpose statement above is founded upon Biblical passages such as the two listed below: Luke 10:30-37 (The Good Samaritan) 36 "Which of these three do you think proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell into the robbers' hands?" 37 And he said, "The one who showed mercy toward him." Then Jesus said to him, "Go and do the same."
Matthew 28:19,20 (The Great Commission) 19 "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
Here are some of the local and foreign ministries that we support through giving, prayer, and service:

2ยข Per Meal Offering
2 Cents per Meal began around 1990 by the Women of the Church to be benevolence fund for needy families in the church or in the Troutman community. This follows the biblical mandate for taking care of people within the covenant community as well as alleviating the hardships of those outside of it. To help remind church members and their families of this ministry, small soup cans with the ministry label were taken home to be filled over the course of the month. The goal being that at every meal 2 pennies would be placed in the can per family member. At the end of the month, a special offering is received during the worship service, at this time the coins (and often bills) are put in the baskets as they pass down the pews. These monies are then distributed to families in need here and in Troutman. To pick up your can check with the pastor or the church office.
HELP Ministries
HELP Ministries of Troutman (Hands Extended Lifting People) was organized 11 years ago with ten churches in the Troutman community coming together for the benefit of those in the community in need of assistance. There are four basic ministries, all of which rely totally on volunteers, that try to meet these needs.
1. The Food Pantry, maintained at Fallstown Baptist Church, provides a food distribution site for those in need of food. It is supported through Second Harvest regionally and locally by the individuals, churches and local grocery stores with food commodities distributed three times weekly by appointment and staffed by volunteers.
2. The Good Samaritan Fund is needed for such things as assistance with utilities and small prescription/medical needs and are applied for and monies sent directly to the source for payment. (No funds are given to individuals, only to the billing source.)
3. "Lunch Box" is a meal delivery program (similar to Meals on Wheels) that is supported totally through client pay and fund raising activities. Delivery by volunteers is a five day a week all year (with some exceptions for holidays and emergencies such as bad weather). There are two routes with a maximum of 15 per route. Food is purchased at Talley House (who have not increased their price in the ten years of the program) and taken to those who are in need.
4. Wood Ministry is a source for those in the community who heat with wood. The cutting, splitting and hauling activities go on year round.
The only expenses that HELP Ministries incurs are the cost of a phone for clients to call, postage for mailings and supplies and upkeep on the saws and splitters. No Federal or State monies are solicited or received. The Ministry is supported through the benevolence of churches, individuals and two fund raisers during the year (Ham Breakfast in September and a Golf tournament in March/April).
Opportunities for volunteers can be found in all the various ministries but especially the Lunch Box and Wood Ministries. Volunteering can be done on whatever schedule that works best for the individual, as little or as much as time as one can devote. Meal delivery is on an every three week rotating basis, with different volunteers each day.
The phone number for The "Help Line" is 704-528-0779. Some one will return a call ASAP but in our church, Phyllis Edmiston (704-873-4444) and Sandra McRacken(704-872-4735) are contacts for questions/inquiries.
G God has bestowed continued blessings upon us and allowed us to continue for these eleven years and with continued support and participation from New Perth and the other churches, we will continue to serve those in our community in need of a 'lifting up'.
