Wednesday Night Kid’s Time
After dinner the children go upstairs for 15 minutes of singing fun and worshipful songs. Then they divide into age appropriate classes for an enjoyable time of learning about the Bible and what it means for them. Knowing the order of the books of the Bible and Scripture memorization along with the lessons helps children apply the truths of the Word of God to their lives.
Mini-Lock Ins
On a Friday night once per quarter children come for dinner, devotions, games and movies. There is plenty of adult supervision to meet needs and help out where necessary. This is for children in the elementary school age group. It typically begins around 6 and ends at 10. This is sponsored by our Christian Education Committee and there is no cost to parents. A benefit is that parents can use this time for an evening out with friends or a special date. Either way, it’s a great time for everyone.
Terrific Tuesday’s
During the summertime, between 10 am to noon, each Tuesday the children have an activity. This is a time for lots of fun from movies, to pool parties, bowling, ice cream and games. Younger children require chaperones. This is a great way to beat the doldrums of hot summer days. Sometimes the day may change but always with plenty of notice.
Easter Extravaganza
Always the Saturday before Easter, there is the celebrated Easter Egg hunt along with snacks, crafts and music. There are relay races with eggs cradled on spoons being carried from one child to another. There are other games as well and the children enjoy loading their baskets with colorful eggs and candy.
Fall Festival/Trunk-or-Treat
At the end of October adults and youth decorate their cars, minivans and trucks, converting them into game playing machines. Each car has its own theme complete with treats, sweets and prizes. A slow hay ride around the neighborhood pulled by a farm tractor rounds out the evening. This is as much fun for adults as it is the kids.
Children’s Sermon
During our Sunday worship service children are invited to the front of the church for a ‘sermon’ from one our adults. Sometimes what the children learn is a pint sized version of the regular sermon to come. The goal is to present the children while in the worship service with a lesson from the Word of God they can understand. If the children are young we pray that God would apply the lesson to their understanding in His time.
Children’s Church
After the Children’s Sermon, they are dismissed and go to the chapel located in the Education Building. Here they introduced and acclimated to the other parts of worship including giving, singing and hearing a lesson. The lesson is presented through skits, puppets and direct teaching from the leader. Another element of Children’s Church worship is time spent in prayer. Children ages 3 up to 3rd grade are invited to Children’s Church.
Nursery
Children too young for Children’s Church may remain in the worship service with their parents or be brought to the Nursery prior to and during the worship time. Nursery is provided during Sunday School as well as Wednesday evenings. Our nursery is staffed by members fulfilling their vow to help parents raise their children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. Loving, tender care is extended to each child as they are a valued and treasured part of this congregation
